The (SALT) Southern African Large Telescope, the largest in the southern hemisphere, is being built in this small rural farming town in the Karoo, South Africa. The town has seen an increasing number of visitors and investors coming to the town opening Bed and Breakfasts and buying property. The telescope will help scientists to view stars and galaxies a billion times too faint to be visible to the naked eye. (Photo by: Per-Anders Pettersson)
