NDOLA, ZAMBIA MARCH 26: Chinese workers play a board game of in their dining room on March 26, 2007 in Ndola, Zambia. They work for Eastern Union Limited, a China based company that buys Copper from Congo DRC, and brings it to Ndola to their Copper smelter. The smelter was shipped from China and operates 24 hours a day in an Industrial area outside Ndola. The copper is eventually trucked to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and on to ships to China. Tens of thousands of Chinese has come to Africa the last years to work in infrastructure projects and businesses. Chinese companies are often the lowest bidders for contracts, pricing out the more expensive European companies. The Chinese people often live where they work and rarely interact with the local population. Most Chinese don't speak English and they are mostly staying in the compounds cooking their Chinese food, and watching Chinese Television and DVDs. .(Photo by Per-Anders Pettersson)..
