Raymond Banzi, age 20, goes trough a traditional manhood ceremony for Xhosa men on October 3, 2003 in Khayelitsha, South Africa. It's mandatory for young Xhosa boys, and begins with a circumcision and then they stay in a hut for about five weeks learning by elders how to be men. Many boys return to their rural homes to do the ceremony, but because of city life, and time pressure, some boys get initiated in cities. This is Raymond's last day in the bush and tomorrow a homecoming party will happen. (Photo by: Per-Anders Pettersson)....
