MATHAHALIBAH, KENYA - JULY 4: Mohammedek Siyad, 21 months old, is held by his grandmother seated in a Save the Children veihle after visiting a Save the Children outreach site in the location on July 4, 2011 in Mathahalibah, Kenya. The boy was referred to the hospital in nearby Habaswein. The team examined about thirty children, among them several severely malnourished. Mohammedek's grandmother Habiba Sahal came with him to the outreach site to receive some food and medicine. His mother left three months ago with their remaining livestock. Forced away due to the sever drought in the area. She is expected back when rain falls again. Mohammedek is now being cared by his grandmother. Two successive poor rains, entrenched poverty and lack of investment in affected areas have pushed millions of people into a fight for survival in the Horn of Africa. This is the driest this area have been since sixty years. (Photo by Per-Anders Pettersson)
