NDOLA, ZAMBIA MARCH 27: A Chinese construction worker writes a SMS to his wife in China, while sitting on his bed on March 27, 2007 in Ndola, Zambia. He works for China Henan, a China based company. They are building several roads in Zambia. Chinese companies are often the lowest bidders for contracts, pricing out the more expensive European companies. The Chinese people often live where they work and rarely interact with the local population. They often live in simple conditions. Most Chinese don't speak English and they are mostly staying in the compounds cooking their Chinese food, and watching Chinese Television and DVDs. Tens of thousands of Chinese has come to Africa the last years to work in infrastructure projects and businesses. (Photo by Per-Anders Pettersson).
