Cachots are the local small prisons in Rwanda where conditions usually are worse than in normal prisons. Here are men accused of the Genocide held. Then men in this room have not confessed to any crimes of Genocide and are being kept inside for most of the day, only coming out to eat.About 100.000 prisoners accused of the genocide are still sitting in prisons 9 years later. Rwanda is currently trying to cope with these huge problems and some prisoners that have confessed to crimes can be tried in village trials, Gacacas, who are now operating all over the country.
