dicorwa00125.Country Rwanda. Deo Kayitana, age 50, (with baseball cap) a Genocide survivor, is meeting for the first time with the men he accuses of killing his wife, children and stealing his cows. The old man was recently released from prison as the government freed old, sick and underage genocide suspects. Mr. Kayitana visited him to talk about the horrible things that happened in19 94, and to reconcile with the accused murderer. About 100.000 prisoners accused of the genocide are still sitting in prisons 9 years later. Rwanda is currently trying to cope with these huge problems and some prisoners that have confessed to crimes can be tried in village trials, Gacacas, who are now operating all over the country. .©Per-Anders Pettersson/iAfrika Photos
