CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 7: Students at Nooitgedacht middle school work on computers with the free Linux operating system on May 7, 2004 in Cape Town, South Africa. The school, located in a poor area of Cape Town has an impressive computer lab, and the free system has made a big difference in the school. Many schools, companies, and governments around the world has started to use the Linux system, a tough competitor to the more expensive Microsoft Windows based system. Linus Thorwalds, a Finnish computer scientist in 1991, invented Linux and he released the Linux's source code. It started a software movement that has since produced a range software programs. .(Photo: Per-Anders Pettersson/Getty Images)......
