LAGBOGOL, KENYA - JULY 5: Suada Sheik Boray, age 2, is carried by her bigger sister Sheikh Boray, age 6, to a Save the Children outreach site on July 5, 2011 in Lagbogol, Kenya. Their mother left with the surviving livestock and Sofia is in charge of caring for her little sister. Many residents from the location has lost most of their livestock and livelihood. Suada is malnourished and she and the family depends on the food and medicine received from Save the Children. The team examined many patients, among them several severely malnourished children. Two successive poor rains, entrenched poverty and lack of investment in affected areas have pushed millions of people into a fight for survival in the Horn of Africa. This is the driest this area has been since sixty years. People in smaller town are usually fortunate to have water. In rural areas, most wells has dried up and some people was as much as eight kilometers to fetch water. Most of the livestock has perished and the remaining stock has often been taken far away for better conditions. Many has even crossed into neighboring Somalia for better pasture.
