Victoria Mbandazayo, an unemployed woman, carries a mattress inside her newly built shack on October 11, 2003 in Khayelitsha, the biggest black township outside Cape Town, South Africa. She had to move from another nearby location with her four children because the area was destroyed to make place for new housing. It's estimated that over one million people live here, most of them under appalling conditions in shacks with no running water or electricity. The township was founded in 1984.
