KINSHASA, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO MAY 4: Unidentified men measure trees destined for export in the harbor on May 4, 2006 in Kinshasa, Congo, DRC. The port is run by the state company ONATRA, and is in shambles. Ships and equipment is rusting and has been idle for many years. Many workers show up for work every day but have nothing to do. The port collapsed in early 1990, and the problem was made worse when former president Mobuto Sese Seko gave up power in 1997, and a civil war erupted. The only part of the port operating is the exporting of trees. Kinshasa, a city of about eight million people is battling with bad infrastructure and no public transport.
