Unidentified girls under the age of 9 that has not been circumcised watch a play on April 8, 2001 in Erer Valley, in eastern Ethiopia. A successful project against FGM (female genital mutilation) has been introduced, and it teaches the villagers that the Koran does not require circumcision, as is widely believed in this mainly Muslim area. Many young girls that go trough the procedure has problems conceiving children when they grow up, because of botched circumcisions. (Photo by: Per-Anders Pettersson).
